In the meantime, here are our top tips to keep your car in good order and drive economically.
Clean it - Sounds daft but dirt, bird droppings, salt and grime can damage the paint work, create rust and reduce the value of your car over time. When you do clean your car, don't forget to wash the salt that gathers under the wheel arches.
Inflate It - Make sure you check your tyre pressures regularly. Incorrect pressure is dangerous, affects the cars ride and handling, increases tyre wear and affects fuel economy.
Oil It - When's the last time you checked the oil in your engine? Thought so. To much or too little oil will cause wear and tear and worse in your engine. Engines spend a lot of time whizzing around at 50 revolutions every second. That's fast. Good lubrication is essential.
Check It - Check that your lights and indicators work - especially the brake lights. It's better you know if a bulb has gone before the Police do or someone runs into your rear because they didn't know you were stopping or turning left. Bulbs are easy to replace and cheap.
Fuel It - Don't be tempted to wait until the warning light comes on and then go for another 50 miles before putting fuel in. You aren't saving money. All your doing is sucking up the bits of dirt in the bottom of your tank. Also, dont put in more fuel than you need. There is no point lugging around 10 litres of fuel that you aren't going to use.
Empty It - Do you really need to carry that sledge hammer around in the boot. Weight increases fuel consumption so empty out the stuff you really don't need.
Drive It - It's what it was designed to do. Nothing does a car more harm than sitting on the drive for weeks. Essential fluids drop to the bottom of the sump. Tyres get damaged if the weight is sitting on the same spot for weeks. Oil goes thick and clumpy. So, take it out for a spin. You will enjoy it.
And most importantly,
