At Tempest Ford we feel that one element that is often missing when you take your car in for maintenance or repair is service - it's Customer Service! That's why we are taking steps to change your opinion. "I’ve been looking at all aspects of our business", says Jeremy Hutton, Tempest’s Service Manager "The very least our customers should expect is an efficient and professional service, at a competitive price. One of our aims is to rectify concerns well before they become a persistent source of irritation. We believe that service departments should advise of checks and procedures that can increase a vehicle's long term reliability, performance and efficiency”.
In order to provide a high standard of service Tempest Ford has made a substantial investment in equipment and staff. We operate a 10 bay workshop, with ramps suitable for cars and light commercials, from a KA or Mini up to a long wheelbase Transit. We employ eight manufacturer-trained technicians who operate the latest diagnostic equipment, not only for Ford vehicles, but also for MG Rover models.
Convenience
Our Service Reception will usually be your first contact. We know that it is not always convenient to lose the car for a day, so we can help. We offer a range of services designed to minimise that inconvenience, such as courtesy cars, collection and delivery, while-you-wait servicing or we can even just simply give you a lift home or to work within the local area. Just let us know at the time of booking.
Menu Pricing
To keep things simple and predictable for you, we operate a fixed menu pricing system. Depending on what make, model, age and level of service you need, the price is fixed up front.
This way there are no hidden surprizes.

Summer Safety
All part of the service at Tempest. If you are thinking of setting of with your car this summer, give us a call first and have your car checked over. The last thing you want to do is find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Wheel Safety
At Tempest we have invested in computerised steering geometry checking and setting equipment. To those who are not technically minded, this piece of equipment is essential in maintaining optimum steering and braking performance. It can also save you a small fortune in unevenly worn tyres. Clipping the kerb when you park or even a small pot-hole can put your wheels out of alignment and you may not notice until you spot uneven wear on your tyres or the car pulls to one side. To be safe and sure, get your steering checked.
Air Conditioning Checks
Now is the time to get that air conditioning system checked. Air conditioning can loose it's effectiveness if it's not regularly maintained. Not only does air conditioning keep you cool in the summer but it also helps to dry incoming air and aids de-misting as well as preventing unwelcome odours from entering your car. It is important that you continue to operate your air-conditioning regularly throughout the year. This helps to keep seals within the system from becoming brittle and lubricates bearings within the pump. If you think your air-conditioning isn’t as effective as it was let us check it out and report on its performance. Cost depends on make and model so call for a quotation. Prevention is better than cure.
Cam - Belt Replacement
A vital component in most engines is the cam belt or timing belt. It is essential that it is replaced in accordance with the manufacturers time or mileage recommendations. It can easily be overlooked, and the result of this can be failure of the cam - belt which will almost certainly require an expensive engine repair. We specialise in cam - belt replacement on Fords and both 4 and 6 cylinder engined MG Rovers which require specialist skills, tools and knowledge.
